First Oklahoma Members Approve Merger with Green Country FCU

Growing Together for a Stronger Future

With member approval secured, First Oklahoma Federal Credit Union will merge with Green Country FeLet’deral Credit Union, bringing together two Oklahoma-based credit unions committed to a stronger future for their members.

The merger represents a meaningful step forward for both organizations, allowing the combined credit union to strengthen its financial foundation and invest in improvements that support long-term member service. The legal merger is scheduled for April 1.

There are no immediate changes for members of either credit union. Accounts, loans, rates, debit cards, checks, and online and mobile banking will remain the same. System and technology updates will occur later in 2026, with clear communication provided well in advance of any changes.

“We’re excited to move forward in a way that strengthens our organization and supports our members,” said Brandon Grell, President and CEO of Green Country Federal Credit Union. “An expanded branch network means more access and convenience for members across northeastern Oklahoma.”

“This merger was evaluated carefully and approved with long-term stability in mind,” said Ed Alexander, Board Chairman of Green Country Federal Credit Union. “Our focus is on a well-planned integration that puts members first and allows changes to happen smoothly and at the right pace.”

Green Country Federal Credit Union will be the continuing credit union. First Oklahoma’s legacy as Oklahoma’s first credit union will remain an important part of the combined organization’s story and culture.

“Our members chose a path forward that balances stability with opportunity,” said Bill Hughart, Board Chairman of First Oklahoma Federal Credit Union. “This merger allows us to strengthen how we serve our members and communities, while taking the time to do things the right way.”

Together, the combined credit union will be positioned to expand services, enhance technology, and continue supporting working families and local businesses across northeastern Oklahoma — all while remaining not-for-profit, locally governed, and member-owned.
