Green Country FCU is certified through the U.S. Treasury Department’s Community Development Financial Institution Fund as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). This designation is available only to organizations that have proven they provide financial services and products in low-income communities and to people who lack access to financing. CDFI Certification is granted to generate economic growth and opportunity in some of our nation’s most distressed communities. CDFI Certification opens opportunities for institutions to access CDFI Fund grants, which must be used to support financially vulnerable residents and communities.

Through our programs with the CDFI Fund, we may offer grants or loan programs from federal funding sources. No person in the United States shall, on the ground or race, color, national origin (including limited English proficiency), be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. Grant Programs

Through our programs with the CDFI Fund, Green Country is pleased to be able to offer grants supporting students in trade schools with tuition and supplies, as well as grants for mortgage closing cost assistance to those who may not otherwise be able to afford a home loan who are part of communities impacted by the Covid-19 Pandemic. We also offer a credit builder grant program and assistance for purchasing a new/used vehicle. Grant programs are listed below. Funding is limited and programs can be stopped at any time. Trade School Tuition & Supplies

This program closed for 2024. 2025 Application period to be announced soon.
To qualify for a Trade School Assistance & Workforce Startup Grant, applicants should prove low-income status and need, as well as meet demographic and location-specific requirements. Additionally, they need to be sponsored by a member of staff from their Trade School and supply either a list of supplies needed to start work, or a registration statement from the bursar regarding tuition. Students should be within 6 months of program completion, or have graduated from an accredited program within the last 6 months. Additional qualifications may apply.

Mortgage Closing Costs Assistance

To qualify for a Closing Cost Grant applicants should prove low-income status and need, as well as meet demographic and location-specific requirements. Applicants should be closing a mortgage loan with Green Country FCU or be a current Green Country FCU member closing a mortgage loan with another accredited lender. Additional guidelines may apply. Hardship Grant

Open to Green Country FCU members facing a financial hardship. To qualify current Green Country FCU members should prove low-income status and need, as well as meet location-specific and demographic requirements. Additionally, applicants need to be nominated by a current Credit Union employee.

Share-Secured Loan + Grant

This program closed for 2024. 2025 Application period to be announced soon.
This credit builder program is a secured loan backed by grant funds held in a locked savings (share) account during the loan term. Once the loan is paid in full, grant funds are released to the applicant, doubling the amount received from the loan. To qualify, applicants should prove low-income status as well as meet location-specific requirements.

Auto Loan Down Payment/Tag Tax & Title Assistance

Established to ensure qualifying applicants can afford their auto loans and accompanying new auto-related expenses by helping with down payment or tag, tax and title. Applicants must be approved for an auto loan with Green Country FCU before applying for the grant. To qualify, applicants should prove low-income status, as well as meet demographic and location-specific requirements.
