Dear Green Country family,

I wanted to give everyone an update on the continuing online banking outage we’re experiencing and hopefully explain a little as to why this is such a big incident.

This unprecedented winter weather event is affecting everyone across the U.S., and Oklahoma and Texas are getting hit especially hard. We utilize Fiserv for our banking services – they are the largest core data company in the United States and pride themselves on being the premier provider to banks and credit unions. In fact, they provide service to many of the largest banks in the U.S.

The winter weather caused a perfect storm of failures to their data centers in Texas, causing a system-wide outage for mobile and online banking services to many financial institutions. When power failed at their data centers they switched to generators which failed when refueling became impossible due to impassable roads. First and second attempts to switch services to alternate server locations in Arizona failed due to multiple weather-related complications and power outages.

Again, this is all happening to many banks and credit unions and honestly, I’ve never seen an outage this long due to weather. More than 3 million people are without power in Texas, where they do not normally deal with situations like these, and it is going to take time to thaw out and restore services – heat, water, gas, and yes, banking services.

Our staff is working at our locations in Sand Springs as well as from their homes to keep Green Country up and running. We’re here to help. Call or text us at (918) 245-1301 during business hours. After hours you can use our automated phone line (877)435-4370 to get your balance, see if a check is cleared, make a payment, and even transfer money.

Check out the voice banking menu of options here.

I am truly sorry for the extended disruption to online services but please know we’re here to help you and we’re doing all we can.
